Torque Industries was selected to design, manufacture and install complete hydraulic, electrical control and automation systems for a 720ton Bushutz Engineering  hay press, including the infeed line and multi baler assemblies.


Torque Industries designed, manufactured and installed a 600kW power unit to drive the main press and auxiliary equipment. High performance hydraulic proportional valves were selected on numerous function to provide maximum speed, control and smoothness of operation. With our inhouse programming capability the automation was tailored to allow functions to operate quickly and precisely resulting in reduced cycle times. Pressure spikes and surges within the hydraulic system have been eliminated to minimise fatigue on hydraulic components and mechanical structures that support them.

Torque worked closely with Bushutz Engineering in their Eudunda workshop which facilitated us to plumb the hydraulic system as much as practical before the press was delivered to site. This reduced the installation time required onsite and ensured careful detailing of pipework and hose design- resulting in a neat and user-friendly installation.


The project was completed on schedule with minimal issues on start up. The control program has been tuned further since the initial commissioning with improvements in cycle times. The plant has proven to be reliable meeting the yearly production output specified in contract.
